I’m joining a professional fraternity (co-ed). What happens if your pledgemaster likes a plegee but you don’t like the pledgemaster in that way. Can he prevent you from being initiated into the frat?

  2. PledgeMaster says:

Catherine: In joining a professional fraternity, you should have no worries. They are “professional”, and almost always initiate their pledge class unless the pledges do not pass the basic tests. In your specific question, you’re in a tough spot. Yes, it’s possible you could handle the situation improperly and make your initiation a little tougher. I don’t think you will have a problem regardless (no matter what you do), as a co-ed professional fraternity have criteria that are very straightforward, and are not usually able to be swayed by the desires of one person (even if it’s the pledgemaster). That being said, if I were you, I’d keep the flirting, and keep the intrigue alive until you’re initiated. It’s a benefit of being a woman. Never move forward, but never say “no”. Play the game to get ahead.
